"If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job." -- Donald D.Quinn

HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Let this coming year be better than all the others. Vow to do some of the things you've always wanted to do but couldn't find the time. Call up a forgotten friend. Drop an old grudge, and replace it with some pleasant memories. Vow not to make a promise you don't think you can keep. Walk tall and smile more. You'll look ten years younger. Don't be afraid to say 'I love you'. Say it again. They are the sweetest words in the world.

GUY FAWKES NIGHT

Guy Fawkes night is a British festivity. It takes place on November, 5th.
But who was Guy Fawkes?
The Roman catholic Church was the most important form of the Christian religion in England from the eighth century. The leader was the Pope, in Rome. But in 1534 the situation changed. KIng Henry VIII of England wanted to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon, because she could not have children, and marry another woman, Anne Boleyn. The Catholic Church did not permit this, so Henry VIII left the Roman Catholic Church and started the Church of England with himself as its leader.
In 1605 the King -and leader of the Church of England -was James I. He passed laws against Roman Catholics: they had to pay a lot of money if they did not go to Church of England religious services. A group of Catholics planned to blow up the Parliament in London on 5 November 1605, when the King was present. This plan was called the Gunpowder Plot.
The leader of the plot was Robert Catesby. He and the others put 36 barrels of explosives under the Palace of Westminster. Guy Fawkes stayed there and waited to light the fuse.
But because of an anonymous letter the King's soldiers discovered the plot. They searched the Palace of Westminster and found Guy Fawkes with explosives. They took him to the Tower of London. They wanted the names of the other men, but Fawkes did not speak.
Finally, they tortured him, and he told them everything. Soldiers went to arrest the other men, and killed some when they tried to escape. On 30 and 31 January 1606, they hanged Guy Fawkes and another seven more from the plot.
CELEBRATING GUY FAWKES NIGHT
On the evening of 5th November there are fireworks and bonfires. Guy Fawkes Night is also called Bonfire Night.Children Often make a 'guy'. This is a model of Guy Fawkes. They use old clothes and fill them with newspaper, and they make a head and draw a face on it. They put the 'guy' on the bonfire and burn it.Some people have bonfires in their gardens. But many people buy tockets and go to a public bonfire and firework display in their town or city. Children love the noise and the excitement. On Bonfire Night in Lewes, Sussex, in south-east England, people wear historical costumes from the time of the Gunpowder Plot.

EASTER TRADITIONS IN ENGLAND
- As a part of Easter tradition, there is a trend among British people to eat yummy hams, in order to commemorate the Easter Sunday.
- In England, special springtime dance troupes are called upon, to give exclusive Morris dance performances. This trend of holding dances is not new; rather it is a century old tradition.
- In a small town of England called Olney, the tradition is of conducting pancake race on every Shrove Tuesday. It is an event that is celebrated on a large scale and people have a real gala time enjoying this unique day also addressed as Pancake Tuesday.
- Churches are beautifully decorated with different color flowers. White lilies are placed on the altar and these gorgeous flowers are also displayed on the graveyard.
- For offering prayers in the church, men and women dress up in their special outfits and as a part of their wardrobe, colorful Easter bonnets embellished with flowers is like a must.
- Special Easter parades are held in Britain and the parade conducted at Battersea Park in London is a very popular one.

Happy St. Patrick's day !!!

SOME FUN THINGS TO DO FOR SAINT PATRICK'S DAY
1) Go to Saint Patrick's Day parade. This is fun for young and old, and many communities have them.
2) Cook an Irish dish. The classic is corn beef and cabbage, but there are plenty of other choices as well.
3) Go to an Irish pub.
4) A top choice, even if you aren't Irish, is to throw a party! It is a traditional party holiday after all.

5) Wear a costume. There are some fantastic ones available and they are not very expensive.
6) If a costume isn't for you, perhaps just a hat will go?
7) If you can't quite do the hat or costume thing, at least wear something green.

Jessie J - Price Tag ft. B.o.B.
Watch this video and listen to its message. Jessie J is a British singer and songwriter. She has written songs for Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Myley Cirus. She's very famous in the UK. Do you know her ?
Seems like everybody's got a price,
I wonder how they sleep at night.
When the tale comes first,
And the truth comes second,J
ust stop, for a minute and
Smile
Why is everybody so serious!
Acting so damn mysterious
You got your shades on your eyes
And your heels so high
That you can't even have a good time.
Everybody look to their left (yeah)
Everybody look to their right (ha)
Can you feel that (yeah)
Well pay them with love tonight...
It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the Price Tag
What about you? Do you have a price ?
